Job Description
The Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) Global Security Directorate is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to research advanced microfluidic gas separations (preferably ammonia gases) methods using unique materials and components, including AM (additively manufactured) components, liquid-gas extractions, and gas-solid extractions. The position is specifically in the Nuclear Detection Forensic group.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate positions are fixed term assignments within the company and benefits eligible.
Responsibilities
- Experience is desired in methods such as gas separations and ammonia extraction using liquid-gas and solid-gas methods in microfluidics.
- Experience in synthesizing liquids and solids for extracting purposes.
- Experience in chemical analytics such as NMR, UV-Vis, Raman, Mass Spectrometry or other methods.
- Collaborate with engineers to validate their computational methods and optimal parameters for extractant methods.
This position will allow a junior researcher to take the skills they acquired from a fundamental science education and apply them toward national security priorities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in Chemistry, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Strong laboratory experimental and analytical skills.
- Experience in synthesizing and separation techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in publishing journal articles and presenting at conferences.
- Works safely with particular attention to quality.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Maintain appropriate level government security clearance.
- Individuals must have completed all requirements for their PhD by the start of employment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, for which US Citizenship is Legally Required.
