Job Description
Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking a Work Planning and Control Manager to be responsible for work control for SRNL facilities and infrastructure, including work planning, schedule, and logistical support coordination. Ensure that all work control activities are performed safely and in accordance with approved procedures and programs. This position reports directly to the Facility Manager and you will lead a team to implement and execute the Work Control program. The successful candidate will lead & develop top talent and coordinate with other departments, project partners, regulators, & outside organizations with inputs and expertise in the area of Work planning and control development.
Responsibilities
- Providing support to the facility maintenance organization for the development of maintenance work packages by coordinating and directing the activities of work control personnel
- Ensuring work control activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures and programs
- Ensuring work schedules and priorities are correct and approved by operations management
- Developing plans and schedules based on input from operations and support organizations
- Conducting daily planning meetings
- Maintaining up-to-date status of all open work activities such as maintenance, tests, surveillances, new construction, and modifications
- Planning and developing schedules for facility and system outages
- Ensuring the adequate selection, training, and qualification of work control personnel
- Developing and maintaining performance indicators for the facility
- Initiating investigations of off-normal events which may be the responsibility of the work control organization
- Providing input to the facility budget and ensure work control activities are conducted within the constraint of the approved budget
- Performs supervisory duties, which include conducting personnel evaluations, disciplinary, and discharge recommendations
- Conduct periodic tours of the facility to observe activities and ensure they are being performed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, partners, suppliers, co-workers, and management
- Provide support of the Emergency Response Organization as necessary
Work Schedule
- 9/80s (Every other Friday off)
- Occasional overtime coverage
- On-Call Status
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS/BA and 7 years of nuclear facility experience in either operations, maintenance, or radiological protection or equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2+ years of leadership experience
- For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required
- Experience leading projects/initiatives which include many competing objectives and organizational constraints, with the ability to resolve conflicts between objectives.
- Experience leading diverse groups in the resolution of highly complex problems.
- Experience recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent.
- Proven ability in develop and implement new processes, procedures, and/or programs in the pursuit of organizational excellence.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Radiation Worker Experience or the ability to qualify as a Radiation Worker
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with work control programs in the Department of Energy, commercial nuclear, or other high-risk industry. Strong understanding of conduct of operations, conduct of maintenance, and conduct of engineering supporting nuclear facility activities.
