What You'll Do
Develops and implements access and perimeter control operational procedures. Conveys and verifies security requirements. Develops and manages corrective actions to upgrade the physical and technical posture of the site plans, and executes the physical security systems and service requirements for the company. Responsible for the coordination, installation, upgrade, conversion or servicing of alarm systems, access controls, video cameras, radio systems, and all other types of physical security equipment. Defines physical security system standards, policies, required upgrades, maintenance, and day-to-day management of all security systems through system integrators or internal resources. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the state-of-the-art security equipment standards and technology encompassing all physical security products. Provides system solutions to specific security concerns identified through customer requests and security audits. Acts as liaison to field operations in the areas of design and implementation of physical security systems. Identifies and recommends electronic access control equipment designed to detect unauthorized entry into facilities or property.
In addition, this position acts as the Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Pantex properties and security projects. Responsibilities include:
- Research new technology as it relates to the security field and make recommendations based on subject-matter expertise
- Preparation and implementation of projects and procedures required for construction, modification, replacement, repair or safety of security facilities and systems
- Maintenance liaison with internal and external customer representatives on programs, projects and activities with other divisions to ensure completion of programs in accordance with delivery schedules
- Manage design of equipment or systems involving security projects (internal and external)
- Planning and scheduling work on assigned programs and following up to ensure specifications are met
- Review and approval of preliminary drawings of physical and mechanical security method
- Management of project teams through problem-solving processes utilizing facilitation skills

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/security management discipline: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, with typical engineering/science/security management experience ranging from 6 to 10 years
- OR Master's degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- OR applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 12 years of completed education and/or relevant experience

- Skill planning work to meet scheduled completion dates within time, cost and resource requirements
- Proficient understanding of Automated Security Systems, Configuration Management principles, Life-Cycle management, and physical security concepts, electrical/mechanical design concepts
- Skill scheduling and coordinating work to be accomplished during a specific time period
- Experience reading and interpreting schematics, system drawings, complex technical information and DOE Orders, specifically DOE O 473.1A, Physical Protection Program.
- Skill performing assessment-related duties to determine effectiveness of security systems
- Skill analyzing complex issues, determining weaknesses and developing workable solutions to safeguards and security issues
- Skill presenting information and communicating clearly with all levels through the oral and written word
- Skill troubleshooting security systems, making recommendations for repair and/or replacement, and offering solutions
