What You'll Do
The Inventory Control Analyst is responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy and optimizing material flow within General Stores warehousing operations. This role analyzes data, identifies trends, and develops strategies to reduce discrepancies, minimize slow-moving and obsolete stock, and improve overall inventory performance. This role requires a high degree of self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to operate effectively with minimal direct supervision.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Develop, implement, and oversee cycle count and inventory sampling programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify slow-moving, obsolete, and excess inventory; collaborate with leadership and material flow management to disposition.
- Conduct periodic inspections of inventory storage locations (e.g., bins, racks, aisles) to ensure strict compliance with established storage plans, layout configurations, and space utilization guidelines.
- Create and maintain inventory performance reports (annual sampling plans, end of year summary, etc.)
- Partner with warehouse operations to improve processes that reduce inventory errors and increase material flow efficiency.
- Provide data-driven recommendations for storage optimization, space utilization, and inventory planning.
- Support system upgrades, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional projects impacting warehousing and inventory management.
- Support Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) processes by monitoring inventory, analyzing demand trends, and collaborating with the vendor to optimize stock levels and address discrepancies.
- Assists with Inventory Management activities as assigned.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- OR Applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 10 years of completed education and/or relevant experience.

Preferred Job Requirements
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
- Knowledge of inventory control methods, cycle counting, and statistical sampling techniques.
- Experience with major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP, System Analysis Program Development) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Relevant Materials Management certifications (e.g., American Production & Inventory Control Society (APICS), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP))
- Supply Chain Management experience
