Job Title: QA Inspection Technician

Essential Job Duties
- Visually inspects weapons tooling through visual inspections and records reviews to verify conformance to procurement requirements.
- Visually inspects procured items for Suspect/Counterfeit Items.
- Performs records and data review of support documents to verify compliance with written procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned depending on area of assignment.
- Obtains operating procedures, engineering documents, drawings, and other specifications, for preparation final acceptance activities as assigned.
- Reviews weapons related records for accuracy and completeness.
- Responsible for visual verification of in-process and final product to ensure completeness and accuracy of product and records.
- Performs assignments with a high degree of quality, accuracy, and efficiency exercising prescribed safety and security measures.
- Works effectively with managers, co-workers, representatives of other Departments/Divisions, and outside agencies.
- Follows prescribed standards of housekeeping and cleanliness of work area to ensure safety and efficient operations.
- Responsible for detecting defects in material and workmanship.
- Responsible for care and protection of assigned materials and/or equipment.
- Performs functions with a high degree of accuracy in all phases of duties under general supervision.
- Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Department of Energy (DOE), Corporate and Plant rules, regulations, Labor Agreements and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Required to attend and/or successfully complete training classes as determined by Product Quality management and the Training and Development Technologies Department, through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2A), and Management.
- Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
- Understands a workers’ right to stop work when they feel their own or others personal safety is jeopardized.
- Attends all required safety meetings and training. Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment.
Skills And Minimum Qualifications
- Must meet initial employment requirements.
- Must be able to perform all duties and functions outlined above.
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions.
- Must be physically fit to perform the above job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation.
- Must be able to be qualified for the Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification.
- Must be able to complete all training necessary to be certified for weapon work.
- Minimum of one-year gainful experience in mechanical or electronics work that involved working to close tolerances, with proven ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, or equivalent education and/or training.
- Ability to maintain neat, accurate, concise and complete records and files for inspections.
- All qualifications, work history, training, and education are to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof. Ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation.
- Required to complete course(s) in drawing reading and interpretation.
Education
- High School diploma or (GED) General Equivalency Diploma
DOE Order 426.2A Requirements
- In addition to the above requirements, the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)

Requires a Q clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Requires Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification. If the successful candidate is not currently certified in the HRP, the certification process will be initiated upon assumption of the position.
