Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Designer to work in our Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Drafting department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off. INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for DOE-NE, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel development and fabrication through post irradiation analysis. Responsibilities Include: You will assess engineering requirements and translate into technical blueprints, drawings, layouts, and simulation models using CAD/CAM/CAE software or applying standard CAD/CAM/CAE techniques to revise engineering drawings of components, parts, and assemblies. Customize CAD/CAM/CAE software to model complex or unusual designs. - Apply experienced multi-disciplined CAD drafting skills and techniques to prepare new computer-generated drawings and drawing changes to support multi-disciplined company engineering activities consistent with company and nationally recognized standards. - Lead the design team to develop complete design and CAD models compatible with applicable codes and standards and pre-established cost, scope, and schedule dimensions for purposes of fabrication, installation, construction or modification of nuclear facilities, structures, systems and components (SSCs). - Provide drafting checking support for assigned group's experiment drawings, including mechanical, electrical, piping and instruments drawings (P&IDs), - Lead in the selection of nuclear components, specifications, and acceptance criteria to be communicated with associated engineering documentation to support the end use. - Check drawings ensuring Fit, Form, and Function for Drawings of all complexity. - Provide design guidance to Engineering and supporting organizations. - Direct the work efforts of drafting personnel to achieve cost-effective engineering project cost management. - Train/mentor peers in the application of multi-disciplined design development skills and techniques.
