Argonne National Laboratory invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position focused on the fabrication and characterization of membranes derived from layered materials. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to advanced research in ion transport and separations, with an emphasis on structural and chemical characterization techniques to assess ion permeability and ion-ion selectivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and fabricate membranes using a variety of layered materials
Perform detailed structural and chemical characterization to evaluate membrane properties
Utilize techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, and FTIR to study membrane structure and composition
Analyze experimental data, maintain thorough documentation of research activities and results
Disseminate findings through scientific publications, conferences, and internal reports
Provide mentorship and guidance to graduate and undergraduate researchers involved in related projects
Position Requirements
Recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0-5 years) in field of chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field
Hands-on experience in membrane fabrication and characterization
Proficiency in structural and chemical analysis methods (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, FTIR)
Strong background in laboratory practices and data analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment
