This position is to serve as the Regional Training Coordinator for the Radiological Assistance Program (RAP) Region V. This position has responsibilities to:
Develop and maintain training plans for RAP Region 5
Plan and coordinate training, drills and exercises
Develop and deliver training for Federal, State, Tribal, Territorial, and Local (FSTTL) partners. This also includes attending meetings; development and delivery of presentations; and participation in drills and exercises.
Coordinate with other regions to ensure best practices are standardized
Develop a Regional Training Plan
Develop and deliver RAP certified and other training materials
Participate in and attend conference calls and group meetings as required.
Advises the Department of Energy`s (DOE) Radiological Assistance Program Regional Response Coordinator (RRC) on training for the RAP Program for DOE Region V.
This position also will require compliance with tasking from the Regional Operations Manager for other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education/Experience Level: Bachelor’s and 12+ years, Master’s and 7+ years, or Doctorate and 6+ years.
Knowledge and skill sufficient to plan, organize, design and conduct training for emergency management and other FSTTL partners.
Excellent organization, communication, training and teaching skills.
Knowledge and skills to provide training on scientific principles and equipment capabilities to technical personnel within RAP and outside the DOE community.
Knowledge and skill in planning and participating in emergency response operations.
Skill in project management, document control, and maintaining accurate and timely training records in accordance with RAP Region 5 procedures.
Ability to communicate assessment of radiological data to non-technical decision makers in an emergency.
Ability to effectively communicate problems and solutions to team members and the RAP Community Reception Center, both orally and in writing, and maintain interpersonal relationships with our federal partners and sponsor.
Ability to effectively communicate orally with other FSTTL agencies as needed through training activities is essential.

Other:
To perform the essential functions of this position successful applicants must provide proof of U.S. citizenship and must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" clearance, which is required to comply with federal regulations and contract. A current DOE Q clearance is highly desired for this position.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Team Scientist and HPSP qualifications.
Previous Emergency Response experience (especially RAP experience), radiation detection experience and/or Health Physics Certification is highly desirable.
This position will require an on-site presence at the Argonne offsite campus in Bolingbrook, Illinois five days per week.
