Job Description
SRNL's Environmental and Legacy Management Directorate is seeking a qualified Post-Doctoral Research Associate to help grow and strengthen the on-line monitoring portfolio and team in the Analytical and Tank Farm Characterization organization.
The Post-Doc Research Associate will provide technical assistance to projects that support the on-line monitoring missions of SRNL. These missions include maintaining and growing lab and DOE Complex capability for chemical measurements in nuclear processing environments. As such, the candidate will collaborate with actinide scientists and engineers at SRNL, other national laboratories, and at SRS processing facilities.
This position entails the application of process analytical chemistry to issues of national security and nuclear nonproliferation. Candidates will also collaborate with SRNL colleagues in other areas as subject matter experts in spectroscopy and other analytical techniques. Candidates will be expected to actively publish and present their research to scientific audiences.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate positions are fixed term assignments within the company and benefits eligible.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD plus 0-3 years in the field
- Degrees: Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Physics. Engineering degree acceptable with desired expertise.
- Individuals must have completed all requirements for their PhD by the start of employment
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate level U.S. Government security clearance for which U.S. Citizenship is legally required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in R&D and process analytical chemistry or online monitoring.
- Desired areas of expertise include optical spectroscopies (Raman, absorbance, vibrational, atomic), chemometric and other data analysis methods, and instrument design.
- Expertise in other areas of analytical chemistry and physics is desirable for building new programs.

SRNL’s Environmental & Legacy Management (ELM) Directorate closely collaborates with the Department of Energy (DOE) and site contractors to develop, mature, and apply science and technology needed to resolve environmental challenges and advance legacy management missions. As the lead laboratory for Environmental Management (DOE-EM) and Legacy Management (DOE-LM), SRNL applies our talent and expertise to develop and deploy innovative approaches and technologies to reduce risk, cost, and schedule of environmental cleanup and nuclear material processing.
