Job Description
Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking a Multiphysics Simulation Engineer to join the Advanced Modeling and Simulation Group. This is a multi-disciplinary position. The desired candidate will have experience with Multiphysics Simulation to Applied (industrial) domains in one or more of the following:
- Mass and Energy Transport
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
- Heat Transfer
- Chemical Reaction
- Electromagnetic Fields Modeling
- LIDAR and optics
- Wave simulations
Experience with COMSOL, ANSYS (FLUENT) or any other simulation packages will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards
- Ability to prepare calculations, apply engineering methods, and apply technology simulation aided engineering tools to facility and operations-based engineering challenges.
- Applicants will assist in proposal development, publications, and networking under the guidance of an experienced engineer.
- Assist in the generate analytical reports and develop presentation materials to communicate simulation and analytical recommendations to clients and internal teams.
- Identify trends and patterns in the data to be incorporated into the discrete event simulation model building.
- Collaborate with client and internal teams to improve process flows, identify, and resolve data limitations to assist in the development of process improvement strategies.
- Support Systems Engineering efforts such as requirements decomposition, system architecture, environments analysis, specification development, trade studies, program planning, interface management, risk management, certification planning & execution, verification & test planning, and overall integration.
- Support interdisciplinary, collaborative approaches to plan, design, develop and verify complex systems solutions.
- Support cross-functional engineering teams in developing systems to meet project/program commitments, including support of documentation, deliveries, and customer reviews.
- Learn about systems design and operation from seasoned engineers.
- Gain expertise in the development of design deliverables including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- They should exercise judgment with practical engineering or scientific principles to determine an appropriate action.
Qualifications
Position is opened to BS, MS, or PhD candidates that graduated in materials, mechanical, chemical engineering or related field with relevant experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in materials, mechanical, chemical engineering, or related field with 4-6 years of relevant experience
- MS + 3-5 yrs; PhD + 2-4 yrs of relevant experience will also
- For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
- Active DOE Q clearance
- Knowledge of DOE, Engineering Standards, and Conduct of Engineering principles and procedure is a plus.
- Experienced with PTC Creo or other CAD software.
- Understanding or COMSOL, ANSYS Fluent or other analysis software
- Knowledge involving one of the following: system architecture development, system requirements, functional decomposition and allocation, integrated design, analysis, or verification.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate & visualize data using Excel, PowerBI, Matlab or Techplot or similar tools.
- Experience in all aspects of designing and implementing system architecture, requirements, software, and software testing
