At Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. This Co-Op Internship is in Richland, WA; the work site may be within the city limits or outside on the Hanford site.
The Engineering Co-Op Intern duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
A few of the Projects the intern may support are the following:
- (Chemical Engineer) perform Resin Testing, support process engineer at 200W pump and treat with reports
- (Chemical Engineer) support development of the Contact Handled Waste Facility
- (Mechanical Engineer) support WRAP HVAC, Air Compressors and prep for inactivation of the facility
- (Mechanical Engineer) support D4 End States 300 Area/ 324 Building
Responsibilities During This Internship Include The Following:
- Supporting development of Engineering Change Requests (ECR's)
- Drafting Design Change Notices (DCN's) drawings.
- Drafting memorandums, letters, and redlining drawings.
- Assisting in the development of operation and maintenance procedures.
- Coordinating the efforts of a variety of technical disciplines to ensure integrated and complete designs that meet requirements.
- Occasionally communicating with off-site manufacturers/vendors to obtain technical specifications and information.
- Applying knowledge of facilities, equipment, and systems, as well as national engineering and industry standards and codes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
To be eligible for the CPCCo Cooperative Education (Co-Op) Program, you must meet the following criteria:
- A U.S. citizen.
- At least 18 years of age.
- An active full-time student during the two semesters/quarters immediately preceding the assignment.
- Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) during their college enrollment.
- Actively enrolled in a full-time degree program that relates to CPCCo, with emphasis in specific disciplines that support the cleanup mission and aligns with the critical skills and job assignments requirements.
- Able to work full-time (40 hours) during the internship experience. The internship typically provides up to 12-weeks of business experience during the summer break.
- Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical, chemical, or civil engineering discipline.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to effectively interact with and convey information to company personnel and management.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with attention to detail.
- Motivated to learn, have a questioning attitude, and be forward thinking.
- Willing to obtain EIT upon graduation.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting hourly rate ranges from $22.60 - $30.10, depending on academic standing (sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate) and degree discipline.
In accordance with the Service Contract Act, this position is also eligible for the health & welfare wage adder of up to $4.57 per hour.
