Savannah River National Laboratory’s Office of Communications seeks an experienced graphic designer to join our vital, highly effective and dedicated team.
Description
This graphic designer will collaborate with customers throughout SRNL to create graphics, data visualizations, graphic illustrations, motion graphics and other compelling visual content that effectively communicate about SRNL, its work and its people to internal and external audiences to meet SRNL communication goals. This position also directly supports (approximately 50% of workload) the SRNL Cybersecurity and Virtual Reality Research and Development labs
Responsibilities
- Works multiple projects for multiple customers simultaneously, prioritizing based upon established deadlines and works to deconflict projects to meet customer needs.
- Attends meetings to understand customer communication goals, brainstorm ideas and present draft designs for feedback.
- Uses software to create images, motion graphics and graphic illustrations to depict scientific information.
- Adheres to SRNL Visual ID guide in creating branded designs.
- Visualizes scientific notation, scientific data and other numeric information in visually compelling and clear manner to convey information to non-scientific audiences.
- Conceptualizes and develops visual content in support of strategic communication plans, campaigns and marketing strategies.
- Create compelling print layouts for magazines, annual reports, fact sheets and other collateral.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field of study, and seven year’s of directly related work experience.
- BS/BA + 7-9 yrs
- Demonstrated expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud Applications including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver.
- Fluency in texture design and creation, as well as lighting maps scene blocking for 3D models and modeling programs.
- Experience in building meshes and key-frame animation methods.
- Fluency in story boarding, story design, post processing methods for digital imagery.
- Must be a US citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Work history at a national laboratory or in the nuclear energy/nuclear waste/nuclear fuel cycle fields.
