Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a
C ost Account Manager (CAM) /Purchase Requisitioner - Mining to join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Mine Operation’s Cost Account. In this role the candidate will work with Mine Planning to define schedule activities and durations, monitor cost accounts, analyze variances, review cost analysts’ reports, and become qualified as an Authorizing Official. The preferred candidate will have knowledge in Earned Value Management System (EVMS) or be willing to learn and apply the fundamentals of scheduling to assist in obtaining Mine Operation’s goals. Track purchase requisitions through the process, ensuring timely delivery of materials, maintaining purchase records and follow up on past due items with procurement and warehouse personnel and prepare reports on delays and operational impact(s).

- Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of related experience, or
- Associate’s degree with seven (7) years of related experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with eleven (11) years of related experience is required.
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with standard business software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat).
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.
Preferred Requirements
- Preference given to candidates with experience in purchasing and records.
- Experience in mining industry best practices and knowledge of specifications for mining tools and equipment.
- Previous Work Planning/Scheduling experience is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CHAMPS) and project scheduling is desired.
- Previous experience with P6 and Cycle Planning is preferred.
- Previous WIPP Project or CCP experience is a plus.

Minimum salary $69,444 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
