Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a
Project Superintendent - Maintenance (PSTR) to join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.
The successful candidate will manage SIMCO Maintenance Projects, manage various service contracts as assigned, attend contractor briefings/planning meetings, review, request, and route contractor submittals for approval, coordinate contractor support requirements between SIMCO departments, assist in scheduling work through the T-0, T-1 and POD, and all other activities required to support safe and compliant execution of construction activities and service contracts on the WIPP Site. The selected candidate will acquire the PSTR qualification and pass an oral board within twelve (12) months of assuming the job. Must have strong communication skills, proven ability to form and lead teams of diverse technical backgrounds to conduct assessments and clearly document results. The candidate must have clear understanding of safety requirements that pertain to maintenance activities. The candidate must be a self-starter and motivated execute assigned work activities. This position will support Maintenance backshift project oversight.
Exempt Grade Levels (30-34)

- Bachelor’s degree with two (2) years of experience managing/supervising construction projects, service contracts, and/or maintenance/repair activities, or
- Associate’s degree with six (6) years of experience managing/supervising construction projects, service contracts, and/or maintenance/repair activities, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with ten (10) years of experience managing/supervising construction projects, service contracts, and or maintenance/repair activities is required.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.
Preferred Requirements
- Ten (10) years in a construction, maintenance, or project management field.
- Previous experience working at a nuclear and/or DOE facility.
- OSHA 30, Applicable Safety Certificates and/or other industry specific training.
- Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus..

Minimum salary $80,609 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
