Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a
Underground Maintenance Coordinator and join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
The successful candidate will support the Underground Maintenance Managers and Supervisors. Support planed work activities by helping with the development of work instructions and procedures need for work performance including documented changes as required for work being actively performed in the field. May be required to help research schematics and/or manuals for the identification and specification of parts needed for jobs and support in the ordering and tracking of said materials. Be qualified and able to fill in as Field Work Supervisor (FWS) when needed which includes passing a Pulmonary Function Test and qualify wearing and working in a respirator. Must be willing to work in the Contaminated area. Performing routine tasks including following all safety procedures, regulations, and policies. Conduct frequent underground inspections of work areas to assure that safe conditions are maintained. Complete and maintain training as required to perform work in accordance with site policies and procedures and any other task related to supporting underground maintenance operations.
Exempt Grade Levels (25-30)
Minimum Requirements: These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and completed applications are the means of determination.
- Associate degree with two (2) years of relevant experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with four (4) years of relevant experience is required.
- Experience must include two (2) years in mining, maintenance, and/or work control activities.
- Three (3) years of nuclear experience is required. (This position is included in the Training Implementation Matrix (TIM). Fulltime related academic training may be substituted for two (2) of the three (3) years of Nuclear experience. Experience in Design, Construction, and Operations Training may be considered applicable Nuclear experience on a case-by-case basis.)
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.
Preferred Requirements
- Preference given to candidates with experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (especially CHAMPS).
- DOE nuclear experience is desired.
- Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Minimum salary $55,555 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
