What You'll Do
The Power Operations Supervisor is responsible providing comprehensive leadership and guidance to multiple supervisory teams (HV Test, HV Maintenance, and Line Crew Supervisors) to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all operations. This includes championing a proactive safety culture, strictly adhering to Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) principles, Integrated Safeguards and Security Management (ISSM), and Conduct of Operations requirements, and interpreting technical documents like prints and sketches to plan job methodologies with maintenance planning personnel. The individual is responsible for reviewing and coordinating maintenance schedules, directing crews to meet deadlines and maintain high workmanship standards, and actively participating in hazard identification, assessment, and control implementation. Additionally, this position oversees personnel matters, including hiring, performance evaluation, coaching, and training, ensures continuous improvement through worker involvement and feedback, conducts formal safety investigations, manages timekeeping and attendance, oversees training and certification, issues work permits, and maintains excellent housekeeping in shops and well-maintained equipment.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides leadership in maintaining safe working conditions and is proactive in preventing injuries, radiological contamination, and other chemical and hazardous exposures to the workforce.
- Ensures the principles of the Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) and Integrated Safeguards and Security Management (ISSM) and Conduct of Operations requirements are implemented at the crew level and are used for all operations.
- Provides leadership and guidance to the HV Test, HV Maintenance, and Line Crew Supervisors.
- Ensures strict application of regulations for security and plant protection.
- Interprets prints and sketches.
- Works with maintenance planning personnel to organize and design job methodology included in job packages.
- Reviews schedules and planned maintenance job packages and work to be accomplished by maintenance craft.
- Coordinates and directs crews so that schedules are met, and standards of workmanship are maintained at a high level.
- Participate in hazard identification, hazard assessment, and implementation of appropriate controls for safe execution of work.
- Ensure appropriate worker involvement, feedback, and continuous improvements are part of the work control process.
- Participates in the formal safety investigations of all accidents involving his/her employees and prepares special reports required in accident investigation or occurrences.
- Conducts meetings, job briefs, and crew briefs, monitors timekeeping and accountable absences.
- Oversees required training and worker certification, maintains records, and issues work permits.
- Ensures maintenance activities are completed in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Ensures good housekeeping in shops and that shop equipment is well maintained.
- Handles all personnel matters associated with work group including requirements of bargaining unit contract.
- Participates in interviews; makes hiring recommendations; evaluates performance; coaches, counsels, rewards and disciplines employees, as appropriate; and trains and develops crew.
- Provides leadership and personal interaction to promote positive work environment and encourages individual involvement.
- Handles labor grievances per the contract and employee complaints and resolves personnel issues.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Thirteen or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
- Overtime is required in this position.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Working knowledge of shop math and the capability to read and interpret blueprints, vendor manuals, and other related data.
- Journeyman license, training or applicable experience.
- Broad knowledge and experience with maintaining 480V and 15kV switchgear. This includes underground cabling and high voltage Line Work.
- Some college or vocational training.
- Experience in a nuclear plant/facility.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate jobs and be able to effectively administer the bargaining unit contract.
- Possess good interpersonal and demonstrated leadership skills.
