Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a
Inspection, Testing and Maintenance (ITM) Technician and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
Perform scheduled Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) work on a variety of fire protection systems at a Class 2 Nuclear/Class 4 Mining facility. Work will include fire protection systems (fire alarm, fire sprinkler, fire suppression) located in an underground mine and in surface facilities. Supporting maintenance and operations in troubleshooting and post maintenance testing for fire protection systems. Must be able to pass a Pulmonary Function Test to qualify to wear and work in a respirator. Must be able to obtain NICET Fire Protection Level I Certification in Water Based Systems, Alarm and Detection Systems, or Special Hazards within one year of hire.
Minimum Requirements

- Associate’s degree with two (2) years of relevant experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with four (4) years of relevant experience is required.
- Must have work experience in an industrial environment.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements
- Associate's degree in a technical discipline.
- NICET Fire Protection Level II or III Certification in Water Based Systems, Alarm and Detection Systems and/or Special Hazards Systems.
- Previous WIPP experience preferred.

Non-exempt grade level(s) 25-27. Salary range: $56,888 to $97,071 per year --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
