Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as an
Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Programs Data Analyst and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
The ES&H Programs Data Analyst performs a broad range of activities related to environmental, safety, and health data systems. This role supports end users, consolidates event reporting, supports auditing and inspection activities, and participates in related communications and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure incident information is accurately communicated to the appropriate line organizations and that all records, investigative materials, and final reports are properly retained for future reference and audits.
- Perform monthly and annual reconciliation and reporting of work-related injuries and illnesses in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations (including OSHA Form 300) and internal organizational metrics.
- Track and assemble information related to Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) citations.
- Prepare analyses and reports summarizing incidents and identifying safety-related trends.
- Develop accurate ES&H reports and analyses based on business needs.
- Support the tracking of leading and lagging ES&H performance indicators.
- Provide reports, analysis, and insights to senior management.
- Provide analytical support for data, including trend analysis.
- Actively participate on cross-functional project teams.
- Provide data to meet Contract Deliverable schedules and DOE requests.
Database And Systems Management
- Maintain and administer ES&H database and reporting systems to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and availability.
- Support system configuration, updates, and troubleshooting in coordination with IT and business users.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, queries, and automated reports to support operational and leadership decision-making.
- Ensure systems align with internal procedures, data governance requirements, and regulatory expectations.
Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor of Science degree with two (2) years of related experience, or
- Associate’s degree with six (6) years of related experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with ten (10) years of related experience is required.
- Experience working with enterprise data systems and databases to extract, analyze and report ES&H data.
- Demonstrated proficiency with relational databases, data structures, and database management systems.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements - Prior experience working as a Safety Analyst.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, Occupational/Industrial Safety, or a related field, with five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Experience with ES&H data systems, metrics, and reporting tools, including one or more of the following:
- DevonWay or similar ES&H incident /action-tracking systems.
- TRC/DART and other ES&H performance metrics.
- Microsoft Excel (data analysis pivot tables, charts)
- Microsoft PowerPoint (management and leadership reporting)
- Previous WIPP project experience is a plus.
- Previous DOE experience is preferred.
- Preference given to candidates holding BCSP certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, GSP). CIH certification is a plus but not required.

Exempt grade level(s) 30-32. Salary range: $80,609 to $142,058 per year --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
