The Data Science and Learning (DSL) Division in collaboration with X-ray Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory seeks a postdoctoral appointee to perform research and development in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for science as well as developing systems for AI/ML.
In this role you can expect to:
- Perform research and development in systems, including networks and edge resources, and HPC for efficient usage of the resources for ML/DL tasks.
- Apply artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning / deep learning (ML/DL) methods to scientific problems, collaborating with a broad spectrum of domain scientists.
- Uses supercomputing facilities at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF), including the Aurora exascale system, other GPU-based systems, as well as specialized AI hardware from vendors such as Cerebras, SambaNova, Graphcore, and Groq.
- Perform scalability studies, performance tuning, porting to new platforms, and incorporating new AI methods to solve scientific problems.
- Work with scientists and engineering staff to put the tools in to practice.
Position Requirements
- Recently completed PhD (within the last 0-5 years) in computer science, physical sciences, engineering, or related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge in HPC, parallel and distributed computing, and systems programming.
- Experience in programming with one or more programming languages, such as C, C++, or Python.
- Experience with machine learning methods and deep learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Knowledge of modern software development practices and techniques.
- Effective collaboration skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to document results in publications, technical reports, and scientific presentations.
- Experience and skills in interdisciplinary research involving computer and other domain scientists.
