We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support the management and execution of cybersecurity projects focused on critical infrastructure systems. The Project Coordinator will assist in organizing and tracking project activities, ensuring clear communication between collaborators, and maintaining critical documentation to help drive projects to successful completion.
This position resides in the Cyber Sensing and Analytics (CSA) Group of the Cyber Resilience and Intelligence Division, National Security Sciences Directorate at ORNL. Staff within CRID’s research sections are identifying and characterizing our nation’s adversaries, enabling resilient operation of critical systems in the face of cyber attacks, and helping analysts process multi-modal data streams to more efficiently understand threats and inform mission-driven response actions. Operation of the nation’s critical infrastructure depends on cyber-physical systems that integrate software and physical controls. The CSA Group develops technologies to enhance and characterize the resiliency of critical cyber-physical systems as part of national security.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Coordinate and monitor project activities to ensure timely progress and alignment with objectives.

Organize and facilitate meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.

Maintain detailed project schedules, including milestones, deliverables, and deadlines.

Serve as a communication liaison between project managers, technical teams, and external collaborators.

Track project budgets, resources, and expenses, flagging any variances for resolution.

Organize and track program and proposal metrics, including submissions, selection timelines, points of contact, periods of performance, funding requests, and funding received

Support risk management efforts by documenting potential risks and assisting in mitigation planning.

Assist in the preparation of project reports, presentations, and updates.

Ensure project documentation is accurate, organized, and accessible, including contracts, change orders, and compliance records.

Collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve logistical and administrative challenges.

Basic Qualifications:

BS in cybersecurity, information technology, business administration, or a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience in project coordination, administration, or related roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience in industries such as energy, transportation, water systems, or other critical infrastructure sectors.

Familiarity with operational technology (OT) systems and their cybersecurity challenges.

Experience coordinating cross-functional teams or projects.

Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Trello, Jira).

Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, particularly in critical infrastructure contexts (preferred).

Proficiency in office software, such as Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace.

Attention to detail with problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
Special Requirements:
-
Q clearance with SCI: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program. In addition, due the SCI, you may also be subject to random polygraph testing.
