The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Systems Section of the Transportation and Power Systems Division at Argonne National Laboratory has immediate openings for postdoctoral appointee. The successful candidate will engage in programs involving expertise in thermal-hydraulics modeling, chemical reaction engineering, electrochemical systems, system analysis, and advanced energy conversion systems for stationary and transportation applications. The candidate will work in developing analytical techniques and software relevant to ongoing programs in water electrolysis for hydrogen production; interpreting analytical and experimental results; relating them to physical phenomena and engineering; and preparing progress reports, participating in and making technical presentations to the technical community. The candidate will engage in research related to water electrolysis for hydrogen production including materials, performance, durability, components and systems.
Position Requirements
PhD or equivalent in chemical or mechanical engineering, or an associated field.
Knowledge of chemical and thermal processes.
Knowledge of electrochemical systems.
Knowledge of water electrolysis including materials, durability, components and systems.
Knowledge of analyses of components and energy conversion systems.
Knowledge of computational techniques and numerical methods.
Knowledge of computer simulation and data analysis.
Knowledge of C/C++ language and parallel programming with MPI. Background in modeling of engineering systems.
Familiarity with high performance computing (HPC) software platforms is a plus.
Skills in using computer software such as COMSOL, Matlab, Simulink, Python and Excel.
Skilled in oral and written communications and presentations at all levels of the organization.
