OverviewThe Campus Development CAD Design team offers several services to the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). Designers support project engineering, plant engineering and research and development. Facility project drawings are used for new facilities as well as modifications. Plant engineering drawings are created and then modified throughout the life of the buildings. Various research projects are served with unique project designs, their implementation and modifications. The team also provides laser scanning capabilities for true models of PNNL’s existing facilities. Expanding our Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities is a focus of this team.

- Team/Capability Description: Drawings are created primarily with AutoDesk programs including Revit.
- Team Mix (How many staff? Postdocs, staff, etc.?): The team consists of 15 designers.
- Location/Operational Parameters: Richland, WA
Responsibilities- Responsible for providing 2D drawings and 3D models that best represent PNNL’s projects and facilities. Adequately represent structures, systems, equipment, and materials.
- Clearly communicate technical information while meeting codes, specifications, and standards.
- Information for drawings is gathered from walk downs, calculations, existing drawings, equipment details, and both building and design engineers. The position applies technical knowledge, skills, and methods to accomplish accurate representation.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Technical Institute Graduate (TIG)/ AA or higher and 8 years of related experience -OR-
- High school diploma/GED and 10 years of related experience required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with Autodesk Revit to develop 3D building information models.
- Experience & desire to provide leadership to others in transition to Revit, including Revit family and template creation and training.
- Experience interfacing Revit with additional BIM software including clash detection.
- BIM Management/Coordination experience and desire to focus significant effort on building this capability.
- Experience with laser scanning and processing.
- Bachelor’s degree completed or in progress.
Additional InformationRequires U.S. citizen or, if a non-U.S. citizen, must have resided in the U.S. for the past (3) consecutive years.
