This role exists to support the Senior Operations Manager with the administration and supervision of the Attractions division at Dollywood Parks & Resorts properties to include but not limited to initial and ongoing training of staff, motivating and coaching of the leadership teams, and other staff, managing budgets and prioritizing aquatic safety.
These responsibilities will be carried out in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and operating philosophies and standards of Dollywood Parks & Resorts.

Summary Of Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operation of designated departments providing leadership to encompass Company Vision, Mission, and Core Values meeting three key objectives of Stewardship, Hosts, and Guests
- Train, implement, know, understand, audit, and enforce all safety guidelines meeting Dollywood Company guidelines
- Develop and implement department safety and training standards ensuring all job duties have been trained and are performed to a fast, friendly, and safe manner for both host and guests
- Responsible for Dollywood’s Splash Country attractions and Parks and Resorts aquatics departments through hiring, training, evaluating, and developing leadership and front-line hosts; to include status changes, clearance forms, performance evaluations, corrective actions, rehire letters, job descriptions, annual authorization forms, training and orientation functions, host development, Host surveys, safety reporting, inventory, and other duties as assigned
- Develop, implement, monitor, and control operating budgets within target guidelines for areas of responsibility and ensure direct reports understand and operate within financial goals
- Conduct regular safety tours of locations ensure appropriate Dollywood, Sevier County Health Department, and ServSafe procedures are followed so that we maintain a safe environment for all hosts and guests
- Effectively plan, develop, prepare, organize and enforce written training manuals and processes to support Dollywood Safety Procedure including Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Training Plans
- Evaluate operational efficiency by capturing success/learning that is accurate and timely in order to guide future decisions for improving operations
- Participate in cross training and support Teams objectives, to include functioning in the role of Unit 900 and Divisional PIC
- Create and maintain an environment for Hosts based on Lead with Love principles and holds a level of Host accountability consistent with the Company’s core values. This includes coaching, development, praise and recognition and positive discipline
- Practice Servant Leadership Management that ensures all employees are treated fairly and provides them with the information, training, encouragement, respect, discipline, and resources to do their jobs
- Establish and maintain a culture that results in a positive awareness of the importance of workplace safety
- Be a positive role model in the areas of attitude, enthusiasm, and attention to detail, and adherence to policies and procedures
- Follow all Host Safety Standards and General Safety Training guidelines and use associated injury prevention measures
- Suspend operations when continuation would be inconsistent with Safety Standards or Procedures or presents a safety hazard to Guests or Hosts

Education And Experience Required
- Must be 19 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Licensed Ellis and Associates Comprehensive Aquatic Risk Management Program Lifeguard Instructor training course or able to obtain licensure within eight weeks
- At least two (2) years of work experience that demonstrates the successful execution of similar duties and responsibilities in a recreational swimming or waterpark environment
- At least two (2) years of experience supervising a large team required. Leadership responsibility at an HFE property preferred
- Knowledge of personal computers for report writing, spreadsheets, and communication required
- Proven ability to establish a climate in which others are motivated to succeed
- Good written and verbal communication skills and be able to coordinate multiple task
- Offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of onboarding process which includes background screening and pre employment drug screening
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles according to company policy. Must have valid driver’s license, proof of auto liability insurance and acceptable motor vehicle driving record
- Offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of background screening which includes criminal history and motor vehicle record check

- Able to perform duties consistent with creating a safe and secure environment for hosts and guests
- Able to be flexible to handle frequent changes in priorities
Physical Requirements | Environmental Conditions
- Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs utilizing company’s safety guidelines for safe lifting
- Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 13 hours
- Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
- Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat
- Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved communication methods
- Able to successfully complete Ellis and Associates Comprehensive Aquatic Risk Management Program Lifeguard Instructor training course
- Able to effectively teach Ellis and Associates lifeguard course curriculum
- Able to swim at least 200 yards without resting
- Able to retrieve a 10 lb. diving brick from a depth of at least 8 feet
- Able to tread water for 2 minutes without using hands or arms
- Able to pass a fifty question, multiple choice test 80% or better
- Able to speak in front of both small and large groups
- Able to perform basic computer tasks
- Able to sit, walk, run, and stand on concrete, uneven surfaces, and in the water for long periods
- Able to climb steps with good balance
- Able to operate two-way radio
- Able to maintain stamina in all weather conditions: direct sun, rain, wind, high humidity, etc.
- Able to possess 20/20 corrected vision while wearing sunglasses
- Able to quickly react in emergency situations
- Able to tolerate noise; of varying levels while remaining task focused
- Able to tolerate heights
