What You'll Do
The Deputy Senior Director for Y-12 Site Operations will assist and during absence act in leu of the Senior Director in leading the division in organizational goals and responsibilities. Y-12 Site Operations will provide tactical direction for Production Operations, Site Integration, along with all supporting divisions across the Y-12 site with a critical focus on programmatic deliverable requirements to ensure mission delivery. This leader provides leadership and technical guidance across all operating elements of Y-12 Site Operations, managing issues that are cross-cutting and require division or company level solutions. This role significantly impacts the organization's ability to technically evolve, meet customer requirements, gain efficiency, and operate safely.
Accountable to the Y-12 Site Operations Senior Director and responsible for:
- Represents Site Operations in interactions with all levels of technical, managerial, and executive-level customers, including Y-12 customers, congressional representatives, or other customers regarding production operations and work performance.
- Assists in developing strategic direction; assesses and evaluates operational performance; leads evaluation of performance issues and development of related action plans.
- Leads improvement initiatives; implements specific technical initiatives; communicates directions, strategies, and plans across the Division.
- Leads the development and implementation of special technical projects.
- Applies appropriate and effective tools for project management to ensure timely, effective, and efficient execution of Division-level initiatives.
- Represents the Division on special project teams in a diversity of subject areas; establishes and leads multi discipline teams.
- Obtains buy-in on execution plans and schedules from organizations involved in work; provides leadership and personal interaction to promote positive work environment and encourages individual involvement.
- Provides direction for resolution of problems which are of strategic importance to the company's success.
- Creates an environment that supports cooperation and cohesiveness across the Y-12 site and with customers.
- Develops and maintains customer and stakeholder relationships, including CNS Program Managers, NNSA counterparts, NPO and DNFSB personnel , AWE, national laboratories, and other government customers in order to understand and support evolving customer objectives.
- Influences all levels of technical, managerial, and executive-level employees, as well as, extensive interaction with technical experts externally and within the DOE complex.
- Communicates and coordinates information sharing across the DOE complex.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience. Minimum 5 years of relevant supervisory/ management experience.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major and 4 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
- Twenty or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Manufacturing Operations, Conduct of Operations, Integrated Safety Management, Y-12 Safety Management Programs, Engineering principles, Quality requirements and Security requirements.
- Must have knowledge of DOE Orders and state and federal laws pertaining to facility operations; complex building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, etc.), instrumentation and equipment; risk management; work planning and control; radioactive and/or hazardous materials; and event management and issue response.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering/STEM related field from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET, with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA.
- The position requires knowledge of nuclear facility safety basis documentation and application of related safety basis rules, guides, orders, standards, and handbooks.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
