Description of Position: This position is for a Knowledge Management (KM) Specialist who works directly with the USSPACECOM Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO) in the J0. The role is a key enabler of the Command’s KM program, contributing significantly to the execution of command-wide KM policy and initiatives. While providing direct KM support to the J0, the specialist will primarily focus on enabling effective knowledge sharing across all directorates and mission partners.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provides critical support to the CKO in the development, implementation, and governance of Command KM policy, processes, and systems.
- Works closely with KM representatives from all directorates to provide guidance, assistance, structure, and tutelage, ensuring a high level of customer service.
- Operating within an agile framework, the specialist is expected to take the initiative to identify and address knowledge gaps and process improvements with minimal direct tasking.
- Contributes to assessing the Command's "knowledge capital posture" and helps develop strategies for capturing and retaining institutional knowledge.
- Actively assists in the planning, preparation, and execution of KM working groups, councils, and training events, serving as the alternate facilitator as needed.
Desired Skills/Expertise:
- A proactive, self-starting individual who can see what needs to be done and take ownership of tasks.
- Comprehensive knowledge of knowledge management principles and experience developing and implementing policy.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills for leading and facilitating cross-functional teams.
- Experience or a strong aptitude for leveraging the Microsoft 365 stack, particularly SharePoint Online, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.
- Familiarity with DoD and USSPACECOM organizational structures and missions.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance
- Position requires drug testing
- Occasional travel away from regular duty location may be required.
- May be required to work irregular duty hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
