What You'll Do
As a design engineer, the candidate will be responsible for developing high quality, detailed design packages, providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs, and providing expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant systems. Design involves the preparation of conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and man-hour estimates, statements of work, design criteria, and title II engineering deliverables including preparation of calculation and analyses, construction specifications & drawings, and equipment specifications. Candidate must effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team, or as a technical lead for a multi-discipline task and will routinely provide input to system engineers and other plant customers. Design engineer will routinely perform walkdowns of existing plant facilities in order to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel.
Tester Design support includes electrical hardware & software design of testing apparatuses. Responsibilities range from conceptual design, detailed hardware design (a combination of analog, digital, embedded firmware, schematic capture, board layout), detailed software design (instrument drivers, system integration, database design/interface, report generation, related software quality assurance documentation), analysis, overseeing fabrication of hardware, defining and executing qualification/testing plans, field support, as well as project management. Designing and developing software applications used to automate complex instrumentation systems, perform calculations on and manipulate very large data sets, interface with databases, create user friendly operator interfaces, and consolidate results in to legible reports.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/science discipline
- OR a Master's degree in engineering/science discipline
- OR a PhD degree in engineering/science discipline
Department of Energy (DOE) Order 426.2A Requirements
- In addition to the above requirements, the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. Preferred Job Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents thru ABET Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA)
- A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) is preferred for up to four years post-graduation, confirmed by transcript at the time of offer. Beyond four years from graduation, relevant experience will supersede GPA in hiring considerations.
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA
- Master’s degree with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA
- PhD with a minimum 3.5/4.0 cumulative GPA
- Demonstrated technical capabilities with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design tools such as Altium and Cadence.
- Experience working with Next eXperience (NXP) microcontrollers
- Experience with safety critical circuity
- Knowledgeable in hardware design
- Understanding of Radio Frequency (RF)
