What You'll Do
Lead the Software Engineering & Automation Management (SEAM) enterprise group at Y-12 National Security Complex. This group is responsible for supporting the Mission Engineering development, deployment, and maintenance of engineering related computer hardware, software applications, and cutting-edge digital engineering solutions. This position reports to the Director of the Technology & Automation Interface (T&AI) organization within the Engineering Technical Operations (ETO) organization but will operate with a high degree of autonomy to translate broad organizational goals into actionable plans, directly impacting the operational efficiency and mission success of the Y-12 complex.
The manager will develop plans to achieve goals set by senior leadership, coordinate digital engineering efforts, recommend procedural and policy improvements and determine programmatic objectives and requirements for assigned scope. This position will analyze the impact of mission changes on personnel and work in close coordinating with the T&AI Digital Engineering Advisor. A key aspect of this role is leading a culture focused on Integrity, Teamwork, and Delivery of Excellence.
This position requires strong leadership and personnel management skills to conduct performance appraisals, recommend promotions, and develop long-range staffing plans for direct reports to ensure a consistent talent pool of varying levels of experience to support a growing mission. The incumbent must possess outstanding people skills and the ability to present complex data to senior leadership, as well as to the average employee.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Physical Science [Chemistry, Physics, or related] from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET AND 7 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated success in leading complex projects/teams (cost and schedules) is required for this position.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Skills in effective planning, writing, organization, schedule compliance, personnel management and development
- Proficient knowledge of and experience relating to engineering computer hardware, software applications including computer-aided design, and an understanding of digital engineering processes and applications
- Ability to communicate with tact and professionalism to all levels of internal and external stakeholders is key
- Ability to work autonomously, assessing departmental needs and developing solutions accordingly
