What You'll Do
The Production Support Manager provides the main leadership in an assigned production area to translate the customer deliverables into daily work tasks for execution by the production crews.
Responsibilities
- Achieving established goals for production quantities, product quality, personnel safety, procedural adherence, and security protocol adherence within their assigned area of responsibility.
- Ensuring processes, procedures, tooling and equipment are developed and functional to support production requirements.
- Setting performance expectations and monitoring performance of employees assigned to their work area ensuring the assigned workers maintain their training and qualifications and that work assignments are in accordance with union contracts and craft jurisdictions.
- Utilizing workers to participate in job hazard analysis, procedure development, and productivity initiatives to maximize employee involvement in workplace conditions and practices.
- Executing work within required cost and schedule agreements, including approval and monitoring of overtime for workers.
- Obtaining work start authorization for daily operations to ensure compliance requirements are met ensuring material accountability is maintained and security protocols followed.
- Utilizing System Engineers and System Health process to evaluate condition of production equipment and determine risk to operations.
- Identifying and evaluating emerging technologies for application to operations creating a work environment focused on Continuous Improvement.
Accountabilities
- To the UPF Director for the production division deliverables, including schedule and quality, and employee safety.
- To the Operations Manager for adherence to requirements that define and maintain a safe and secure work environment for manufacturing operations utilizing trained and qualified workers.
- To their assigned crews for training, coordination, involvement, issue resolution, and communication, including resolution of personnel and/or equipment issues.
Authorities
- Authorized to manage the production craft workers to support mission deliverables.
- Authorized to resolve cost, schedule, or resource conflicts regarding mission deliverables within their span of control.
- Authorized to represent the Production Division in interactions with labor relations personnel.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related science or technical discipline that provides a strong foundation in physical sciences, analytical reasoning, and systems-based decision-making. Acceptable degree disciplines include, but are not limited to: Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science / Metallurgical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Technology (with demonstrated technical rigor), and other applied science or technical disciplines with clear relevance to nuclear operations.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience. Minimum 5 years of relevant supervisory/ management experience.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major and 4 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
Preferred Job Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of enriched uranium production operations and equipment, hazards and controls.
- Requires strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of Conduct of Operations, Integrated Safety Management System and Quality requirements.
- Demonstrated implementation of Lean, 5S and Productivity Improvement projects.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
