The Systems Engineering (SE), Design and Fabrication Group is responsible for the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) configuration management program. This group also provides technical support to operations, maintenance and performs systems analysis.
As a Senior Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Engineer, you will design and modify reactor instrumentation loops and control systems, provide technical support for I&C maintenance activities, lead field work, and analyze reactor system performance. This position will function as a cognizant system engineer for the assigned HFIR plant system in the HFIR System Engineering Program and DOE O 420.1 for the hazard category 1 nuclear facility and shall be qualified as a HFIR System Engineer in the RRD Training Program.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Lead the design, modification, and documentation of reactor structures, systems, and components.

Apply and interpret applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (DOE Orders, ASME, ICC, IEEE, etc.) in engineering decisions.

Extensive experience developing, interpreting, and applying complex technical requirements, specifications, and design criteria to support project execution and engineering decisions.

Advanced ability to read, interpret, and provide technical oversight of electrical design drawings, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and related design documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Familiarity with the regulatory programs which define the HFIR work environment, including DOE Orders pertaining to conduct of operation and maintenance, OSHA requirements, and IEEE standards.

Experience in the operation, calibration, and troubleshooting of radiation monitors and sensors, experience with flow instrumentation, and familiarity with environmental and process monitoring systems, including temperature, pressure, and level sensors used in nuclear facilities.

Experience in project management, leading maintenance tasks, procedure development, procurement of materials, and equipment analysis is desired.

Work involves various physical requirements and working conditions. As such, a pre-hire physical will be required after offer.
