Overview:
We are seeking a Reliability Engineer who will focus on developing, implementing, and improving a reliability and asset management program for predictive operations for the systems within the Facilities and Operations (F&O) Directorate. This position resides in the Reliability Engineering Team in the Infrastructure Reliability Group in the Integrated Operations Support Division, F&O Directorate, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
As part of our team, you will collaborate with system stakeholders and various operations personnel to employ the reliability program for F&O managed equipment throughout ORNL facilities and systems. This position will provide reliability cultural leadership to system stakeholders to build a sustainable reliability and asset management program.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with system and facility stakeholders to assess the condition of facility systems and create system health reports to be utilized for work planning and maintenance improvements.
- Establish initial inventory counts and train stakeholders on inventory methods.
- Complete initial CMMS system hierarchy.
- Monitor and analyze facility systems, develop logs, and communicate system conditions to stakeholders.
- Work with system stakeholders to diagnose system statuses and initiate corrective actions.
- Trend, analyze, and interpret facility system performance data and provide system engineers with performance reports.
- Work with system stakeholders to develop and maintain system training modules, operating procedures, and alarm response procedures.
- Collaborate with craft and system engineers to identify processes improvement needs and document/fix vulnerabilities.
- Work with system stakeholders to document system integration and interfaces and the impact of cascading failures (FMEA).
- Create and revise system one-line drawings.
- Work with facility system stakeholders for labeling system components to match drawings.
- Support asset tracking and populating the CMMS with system and maintenance information.
- Support and implement the F&O directorate strategic predictive operations plan.
- Provide input into the development of program sustainability.

Basic Qualifications:
- A BS in engineering degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Electrical experience.
- Facility operations experience.
- Familiarity with ISO 55000.
- Familiarity with reliability and industrial engineering methods/processes such as: FMEA, RCA, Lean Six Sigma, etc.
- Maintenance and work planning.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced operations environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
Special Requirements:
- Physical Requirements: Work involves various physical requirements and working conditions. As such, a pre-hire physical will be required after offer.
- Q clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program
