What You'll Do
The Quality Programs Engineering Associate is responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance (QA) team with meeting program requirements. These program requirements include ASME NQA-1, NAP-401.1A, DOE O 414.1E, and the CNS Quality Assurance Program Description (as well as several other Y-12 procedural requirements). The Quality Programs Engineering Associate will primarily assist with the Quality review of procurement requests and the development of Quality Assurance procurement related procedures; however, duties may extend to various other Quality related elements across Y-12.
General Responsibilities Include
- Review procurement requests for compliance with Quality requirements.
- Participate in the Quality Level Determination for procured items.
- Assist employees and other organizations with the interpretation and implementation of Quality requirements.
- Assist the Quality Assurance team with the evaluation of new or changing requirements. This includes requirements for flow down and procedure updates.
- Directly participate in the development of procedures related to Supplier Quality Assurance and Quality Assurance in the procurement process.
- Assist with the editing, review, and submission of Quality Assurance related procedures.
- Assist with oversight activities of Quality Assurance programs and procedures.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- OR Master's degree
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major, 2 years job-related experience, and 1 year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2).
Preferred Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline, plus 5 or more years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated skills in reviewing procurement requests and procurement related documentation
- Proficiency with use of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Pro
- Detailed knowledge of Quality Assurance requirements (e.g. ASME NQA-1, DOE O 414.1E, and NAP 401.1A)
- Ability to understand/resolve complex issues and communicate the resolution
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities concurrently
