Key Responsibilities:
- Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to develop innovative solutions in areas such as advanced computing, scientific workflows and data management, and AI for science.
- Assists in software development, including the design, maintenance, and support high-quality software systems.
- Collaborates effectively with industry partners, other laboratories, and academic institutions to solve complex scientific problems requiring multidisciplinary teams.
- Provides technical leadership on projects, including planning future projects and guiding ongoing research and development efforts.
Position Requirements
- Extensive knowledge in solving large-scale computational and/or data-centric problems across various scientific disciplines and system architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and abstract specific problems into generalizable solutions.
- Significant experience in interdisciplinary research involving collaboration with discipline scientists, computer scientists, and mathematicians.
- Proven ability to lead projects, develop strategic plans, and contribute to the advancement of research and development initiatives.
- Demonstrated familiarity with modern software development and sustainment methodologies and tools.
- RD4: Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree and 7+ years of experience, or a Doctorate and 6+ years of experience, or equivalent.
