Key Focus: Intern and Co-Op Programs
This entry-level HR Specialist role is primarily dedicated to supporting CPCCo's Early Career Programs, that include Summer Interns, year-round Co-Op Interns, and our annual scholarship program. You'll play a vital part in recruiting, onboarding, and enabling top talent from local higher education institutions, ensuring students and new graduates become integral contributors to Hanford's mission.
Duties and responsibilities as an HR Specialist include but are not limited to the following:
- Intern/Co-Op Program support: Coordinate scheduling, activities, and logistics for summer intern and co-op participants;
- Job fairs and campus recruitment: Participate in job fairs, recruitment events, and outreach initiatives, strengthening CPCCo's partnerships with local colleges, universities, and higher education institutions;
- Onboarding and Orientations: Run engaging new hire orientations for interns, co-ops, and other new employees;
- Collaborate on projects and programs that support company objectives and employee development;
- Scholarship Program Administration: Manage and execute CPCCo's scholarship program for students, working directly with applicants and awardees;
- Assist with staffing activities for internal and external positions, including applicant sourcing, screening, correspondence, and supporting HR record management in the PeopleSoft database;
- Prepare detail summer program activities, workshops, and presentations for interns/co-ops and CPCCo employees;
- Serve as the primary staffing back-up for all CPCCo staffing needs;
- Support recruitment goals by engaging in outreach and company-wide and site initiatives; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Intermediate Grade 14:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline; and
- Two (2) years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Intermediate Grade 15:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline; and
- Three (3) or more years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Talent acquisition: Proven experience sourcing, screening, creating candidate pipelines and selecting qualified candidates.
- Experience in working with and implementing Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Pro.
- Experience working in People Soft (Oracle), Microsoft Office Suite: Power-Point, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
- Experience handling sensitive information and record management.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.
Expected annualized pay range based on full time schedule (40 hours per week):
2025 Salary Range:
- Intermediate Level Grade 14: $81,500 - $101,500
- Intermediate Level Grade 15: $81,500- $111,650
Effective 1/1/2026 Salary Range:
- Intermediate Level Grade 14: $81,500 - $103,750
- Intermediate Level Grade 15: $81,500- $114,100
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
