What You'll Do
Provide oversight and ensure implementation of the defined quality assurance requirements and program infrastructure for nuclear facilities and applicable non-nuclear facilities. Develop and maintain consistency in the application of CNS quality requirements and ensure requirements and performance efforts are in accordance with company quality program criteria. Individual may be directly involved in providing input on procedures, acquisitions, projects, and maintenance processes. The following are specific tasks typically associated with this job:
- Ensure use of principles and requirements required by the NNSA (e.g., DOE O 414.1D, NAP-401.1A, NQA-1, etc.) and internal requirements are implemented for plant site activities
- Support plant site Operations, Infrastructure and Maintenance, Procurement, and Construction to achieve mission delivery
- Perform B31 examinations and Quality Control discipline-specific inspections
- Lead or participate in QA oversight, such as audits, assessments, inspections, and surveillances. This may include internal project audits and vendor/supplier audits, as required. Work with personnel and management to communicate findings and issues.
- Identify and recommend to management areas to be assessed based on risk analysis and performance indicators
- Support plant personnel by providing assistance in the interpretation and implementation of quality requirements
- Assist with the development and maintenance of storage areas
- Provide Quality oversight, review, and/or approval of Infrastructure/Maintenance activities, document development, changes, or improvements for technical requirements accuracy
- Provide verification of completed work packages/orders
- Participate in facility tier meetings, as necessary, to ensure issues or conditions are addressed or escalated as appropriate
- Represent the Quality group in plant or work team meetings
- Make technical decisions on the applicability of quality requirements
- Provide assistance with the resolution of non-conformances, and with quality control functions in support of facility maintenance and receipt inspection
- Collect and analyze metrics associated with Quality work activities
- Coordinate with personnel and management from other organizations, and interface with internal and external customers to assist in the implementation of customer defined requirements, schedules, and expectations
- Contribute to the Quality organizational performance in achieving and exceeding established goals and expectations
- Perform activities in support of the organizational priorities and missions
- Complete training as assigned in support of the organizations activities

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
- OR Master's degree: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience
- OR PhD: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Typical experience ranging from 10 to 15 years. Relevant education, training, qualification, and/or progressive relevant experience will be reviewed and considered equivalent to degree requirements.
- Knowledge of NQA-1 requirements
- Knowledge of Commercial Grade Dedication and Safety Systems
- Must meet medical requirement to wear respirator and work in hazard-designated area
- The applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major, 2 years job-related experience, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities (Ref: DOE O 426.2).
- Knowledge of computer software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance required
Preferred Job Requirements
- Knowledge and/or Qualification as a B31 examiner
- Knowledge and experience as a Quality Control Engineer for inspections
- Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering/Science discipline
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and functions that impact the quality management system
- Working knowledge of, or experience with the development of, specifications, drawings, material requisitions, services requisitions, purchase orders, subcontracts, and interfacing with suppliers
- Knowledge of the application of corrective actions for conditions adverse to quality
- Knowledge of the application of non-conformance and deficiency reports for nonconforming or deficient items
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and functions that impact the QA program
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; aility to work independently
- Intermediate to advanced level technical knowledge in the application of engineering, construction, testing, maintenance, or operations practices sufficient to comprehend associated quality requirements
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge/skills in analyzing information, reporting results, promoting process improvement and a quality culture, quality engineering, conducting statistical analysis and applying statistical analysis methods, critical thinking, and problem solving techniques
- Nuclear grade construction experience
- Specialized courses in inspection, engineering, and/or technical or quality assurance disciplines
- Certified Welding Inspector experience and qualification
