Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a
Security Systems Specialist and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
This position supports Safeguards and Security (S&S) operations. The primary role of this position is to assist in the administration of physical security systems such as physical access control systems (PACS) and video assessment and surveillance systems (VASS). The successful candidate will monitor daily system performance to ensure proper functionality and must possess or obtain sufficient understanding of Site systems to assist end users in performing basic troubleshooting to restore functionality during system disruptions. If necessary, the system specialist will liaise with and support cognizant engineers or other technical experts to resolve issues which are beyond the scope of basic troubleshooting. Candidate will assist in developing training for end users, including providing demonstrations as necessary. Candidate will perform routine tests of security systems. Candidate must have or obtain sufficient understanding of manufacture’s specifications and site requirements to provide their supervisor and S&S management with information necessary to make decisions on compliance, significant issue resolution, and lifecycle sustainment. Candidate will perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor's degree, or
- Associate’s degree with four (4) years of professional experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of professional experience is required.
- Must be technologically proficient.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a "Q" Clearance.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Exempt grade level(s) 26-29. Minimum salary $60,673 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
