Overview:
We are hiring a Network Administrator who will focus on network administration and providing technical consulting to numerous work-for-others projects! This position resides in the Enterprise Operations group in the Digital Services Infrastructure and Operations division of the Information Technology Services Directorate (ITSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Network configuration and troubleshooting of LAN, WAN, WLAN
-
Operation and maintenance of existing ISC BIND DNS & DHCP environment.

Providing coordination, notification, escalation, and documentation to resolve events/issues, efficiently minimizing customer impact.

Engaging with and providing outage reports to various levels of management.
-
Ensure systems are configured and maintained per cyber security common control requirements so that accreditation is retained.

Create and maintain infrastructure documentation as it relates to infrastructure systems design, configuration, support, and processes.

Conduct research, cost-benefit and return-on-investment analysis on proposed hardware, software and systems to justify recommendations, support purchasing efforts and aid management in making infrastructure design and architecture decisions.

Manage capacity and performance of the network platforms, ensuring the integrity of the infrastructure.

Proactively monitor, test, collect and analyze system performance statistical data to improve the quality of the network environment.

Basic Qualifications:
-
A BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, information systems, science, engineering, business, or a related discipline and a minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of aligned professional experience is required for consideration.

Solid understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc.).

Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Visio.

Knowledgeable in the use of network and configuration management.
-
Knowledge of Cisco IOS.
-
Ability to handle steadily evolving work priorities, to be able to multitask effectively during busy times, and to exercise patience and integrity during stressful situations.

Ability to work responsibly with or without supervision.
-
Good verbal communication and technical writing skills.
-
Good problem-solving skills and able to visualize a problem or situation, think abstractly, and resolve it.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
This position is in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and requires onsite presence. We offer a flexible work environment that supports both the organization and our employees. A hybrid/onsite working arrangement may be available with this position, which provides flexibility to work periodically from your home, while reporting onsite to the Oak Ridge, Tennessee location on a weekly and regular basis.
