Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a
Mailroom Specialist and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
This role will report to the Records Program Manager (RPM) and requires a high energy individual with strong interpersonal skills. The Mailroom Specialist will provide recommendations to Records Program Manager or designee relative to WIPP Mail Operations procedures, functions and processes that include FedEx processes. The position will also be responsible for providing support as required to WRMO Records Processing Centers for hardcopy digitization. The role will be responsible for proper coordination with RPM or designee, to help ensure appropriate resources are available to provide services when not available.
Responsibilities:
- Daily pickup of all WIPP-related mail from various locations.
- Screening, sorting, and scanning incoming mail and packages.
- Disseminate mail per standardized processes.
- Logging incoming packages (Amazon, FedEx, USPS, etc.) and delivering or notifying appropriate parties.
- Posting outgoing mail, facilitating messenger requests and shipping requests via FedEx/UPS.
- Taking inventory of mail supplies and inventory and stocking storage areas with new stock.
- Submit verified supplier packing lists for processing.
- Responsible for accurate picking, packing, and handling of products to be delivered to customers.
- Process order shipments using company computer system and applicable shipping software.
- Affix documentation and carrier shipment tracking labels to outgoing packages.
- Assist in coordinating orders to be shipped.
- Packaging and shipment of finished orders.
- Complete all other receiving and shipping tasks as assigned.
- Ability to prioritize and simultaneous task.
- Digitizing documents and save to a shared drive.
- Must have and maintain accident free and safe driving standards.
Minimum Requirements

- Associate’s degree with two (2) years of working* experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with four (4) years of working* experience is required.
- Experience must include some mailroom or similar type of duties.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements
- Previous experience working with FEDEX, UPS & USPS machines.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.

Non-exempt grade level(s) 24-26. Minimum salary $53,509 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
