Project Overview
Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Bechtel’s government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
UPF is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future.
The UPF project works on a 4/10 schedule. Start times are flexible but the standard work week is: Monday - Thursday from 7:00am to 5:30pm.
Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable.
Job Summary
In this role, you will plan and conduct systems engineering work, and will review and prepare information on requirements management, verification and validation, functional analysis, and other key documents. You will prepare estimates, work plans, and assist with performance reporting. Your technical expertise and coordination will ensure outcomes meet client and project requirements.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities
Review and prepare systems engineering documents related to the requirements generation, management, and verification.
Properly interpret and apply codes & standards and customer design requirements, for the compilation of verification evidence.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, review project design criteria, vendor drawings/manuals, construction inspection records, and startup test reports.
Prepare engineering change packages for requirements management and configuration managed documentation.
Coordinate technical issues with Startup & Commissioning for support of Operational Readiness.
Deliver verification packages to facilitate the turnover of completed systems and facilities to clientele.
Demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Level 1: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Level 2: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Experience with implementation of systems engineering principals on DOE or DOD projects.
Familiarity with implementation of nuclear safety and requirements in design.
Experience working on a large, complex EPC contract.
Experience Working With Requirements Management Databases (e.g., DOORS®).
Experience in performing design and/or requirements change impact analysis.
