Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities
Serve as an IT Support Specialist II for the Emergency Communications Network (ECN) Program Global Data Department located at the Remote Sensing Laboratory, Nellis (RSL-N) on Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with data entry, (Footprints, WASP, SOLARWinds), phones, customer request, ticketing workflow in the ECN Network Operation Center (NOC).
- Assisting Data Department with maintaining procurements, procedures, documents, inventories, and reports to ensure compliance with DOE Orders, Company Procedures, etc.
- Assist with data entry reports, end-user desktop and service desk support to include, but are not limited to, the installation, operation, builds and maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing of equipment hardware, peripherals, including printers, scanners, and multifunction devices and software.
- Working with specific task direction and supervision from ECN Technical Staff.
- Learning basic technical procedures for data-collection and measurement.
- Work is reviewed by Sr. Level Technical Lead(s) for-overall quality and adherence to procedures.
- Support National Emergency Response group’s emergency response drills, exercises and real-world events through on-call availability and travel via commercial and military aircraft when required.
- Travel as part of an installation or restoration team when directed.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform all assigned duties.
- Ability to articulate technical processes and information to a non-technical audience.
- Gather the customer’s information, determine the issue and ensure resolution.
- Performing routine work with supervision.
Qualifications
- Associates degree in MIS, Computer Science or equivalent with at least one year of related experience.
- Training or related experience to the position desired.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment and Microsoft Office desired.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills with proficiency in composition, proofreading, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Technical job/hobby/volunteer experience will be considered.
- Strong computer skills are desired, including MS Office.
- Candidate must be a team player with good customer service skills and the ability to work flexible hours if required.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform all assigned duties.
- Ability to articulate technical processes and information to a non-technical audience.
- Travel as part of an installation or restoration team when directed.
- The primary work location will be based at the Remote Sensing Laboratory at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV (RSL-N).
- Work schedule for this position will either be 4/10’s, 9/80, or 5/8’s (per management discretion). Must be willing to perform on-call duty and ensure availability to work non-standard hours.
- Personnel may be requested by leadership to work in excess of 40 hours per week due to projects, activities, and emergences; critical operational demands may occasionally require off-shift work.
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2 , “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709 , “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Hourly salary range for this position is:
$22.67 - $34.01.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
