Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities
THIS IS A CASUAL POSITION WORKING A MAXIMUM 900 HOURS PER CALENDAR YEAR.
Key Responsibilities
- Devise imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions requiring evaluation of standards and processes. Solutions may be unique.
- Function as Geology Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation – Data and Diagnostics group in the Global Security Directorate.
- Work as part of a team performing 24/7 geologic support during drilling operations.
- Perform well-site geologic support during drilling and coring operations.
- Conduct lithological studies and fracture analyses on core and using borehole geophysical log data.
- Assist in oversight of borehole geophysical logging operations, and other geologic fieldwork as assigned.
- Assist in researching, compiling and analyzing geologic data.
- Assist in management of project-specific relational databases of drill hole information, including construction data, geologic data, geophysical log data, and sample data.
- Coordinate execution of assigned projects.
- Develop processes, procedures, work instructions.
- Prepare procurement requirements and work statements for subcontracts, and evaluates bids.
- Contribute to strategies, reports and technical proposals.
- Prepare concept designs and analytical methods.
- Guide implementation and utilization of technology for both experimental and operational needs.
- Serve as lead on teams requiring coordination with other teams. Coordinates work with other project team members.
- Author formal publications.
- Produce intellectual property.
- Provide expertise on operational goals.
- In addition to fulfilling basic ESH&Q obligations:
- Assume increased responsibility for safety as job responsibilities expand.
- Work may affect public health and safety.
- May participate on a safety team.
Qualifications
Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
- Bachelor’s in calculus-based technical (STEM) field plus at least 5 years relevant experience. Skill building experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross-disciplinary knowledge. Graduate research experience may be recognized.
- Master of Science degree preferred.
- Ability to builds teaming relationships with technical and other company organizations.
- Executes work in a disciplined manner to demonstrate compliance with laws, codes, orders, and MSTS policies and procedures.
- Experience with drilling operations and data collection preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with electronic databases is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Datamine Products preferred.
- Ability to execute work in a disciplined manner to demonstrate compliance with laws, codes, orders, and MSTS policies and procedures.
- Ability to prioritize and schedule multiple activities in the most efficient manner and meet required deadlines.
- Be team-oriented with good communication skills. Able to work closely with a diverse group of scientists and engineers.
- The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
- Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘
Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

Annual salary range for this position is:
$99,340.80 to $149,011.20.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
