What You'll Do
Serves as Labor and Employee Relations interface with employees, union officials, peers in other departments, and all levels of management personnel. Specifically responsible for: investigating potential employee misconduct and making recommendations for implementation of employee discipline; conducting terminations in for-cause situations; investigating alleged violations of the bargaining unit contract (grievances); implementation of resolutions for alleged violations of the bargaining unit contract, including conducting formal grievance hearings and assisting in the preparation of arbitration cases; and interpretation and implementation of Human Resources (in particular Labor and Employee Relations) policies and procedures and multiple bargaining unit contracts. Participates in ad-hoc assignments of a highly complex nature involving Human Resources, Labor and Employee Relations, Benefit Plans, Payroll, and Operations Management processes. Some travel will be required.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum 5 years of relevant labor relations experience.
- OR Master's degree with a minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- OR 13 or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
- Knowledge of and experience administrating bargaining unit contracts is required.
- Must demonstrate a strong understanding of knowledge of labor and employment laws.
- Must have the capability of working independently and be able to interface effectively with all levels of employees, union leadership, and management.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills; good organization and communication skills; and must have a demonstrated ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
- Must also be able to learn quickly and function well in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Master's degree is preferred.
- Experience with Labor and Employee Relations in a DOE/NNSA environment is preferred.
