Job Description
The Executive Communications Specialist at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) plays a crucial role in supporting the Office of the Laboratory Director by developing products that effectively communicate the Laboratory Director’s priorities, strategic initiatives and vision for SRNL to diverse stakeholders via multiple channels. This position requires a seasoned communications professional with expertise in various communication disciplines, including writing, social media and digital media, to enhance internal and external branding and advance the Laboratory Director’s agenda and the SRNL brand.
Responsibilities
- Provide responsive and strategic support to the Office of the Laboratory Director.
- Collaborate with other communications professionals to create compelling products that support the Laboratory Director’s strategic initiatives.
- Develop an understanding of the laboratory's mission and stakeholder audiences.
- Work closely with the Director of Communications to develop the executive communications function at SRNL.
- Strengthen internal and external branding through consistent messaging and adherence to SRNL styles/standards.
- Align behaviors, priorities, and interactions with SRNL's core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in communications-related positions.
- For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required
- Demonstrated experience in speechwriting.
- Ability to adapt writing style to the voice of the supported executive for written and oral communications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft word-processing and presentation software.
- Experience in managing a senior leader’s social media presence.
- Demonstrated experience working with senior leaders or executives.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement solutions.
- Possesses strong administrative skills.
- Highly creative and collaborative.
- Highly effective in developing communication products for specific audiences including stakeholders, employees and other interested publics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to develop and maintain intranet content on behalf of supported executive.
- Experience with WordPress and SharePoint content management systems.
- Previous experience with DOE and the National Laboratory System.
- Previous experience in science writing.
- APR/APR+M holder or candidate.
