Job Description
Savannah River National Laboratory’s (SRNL) Global Security Directorate (GSD) is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead the Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) program supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). SRNL has supported DHS CWMD through test and evaluation as well as radiological source management and support during exercises and evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cognizance of sponsor needs, organization, personnel, missions, project execution and requirements.
- Provide routine feedback to portfolio manager and principal investigators related to on-going work execution.
- Identify where SRNL capabilities and resources are not in balance with the needs of DHS CWMD and lead efforts to fill these gaps.
- Proven demonstration of technical execution across multiple projects with a focus on relationship building, resource management, teamwork development, and excellent communication skills.
- Develop and maintain relationships with DHS CWMD leadership.
- Provide effective program management and develop new concepts and proposals to support DHS’s mission space.
- Provide mentoring to less experienced SRNL personnel.
- Identify staffing needs to support current and future activities and work closely with line and portfolio management to fill the needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science with 9 years’ experience executing technical support for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives (CBRNE), nuclear nonproliferation, nuclear security, nuclear material detection, or other technical disciplines related to the missions of DHS CWMD.
- Master's degree and 6 years or PhD and 4 years of relevant experience are also accepted with relevant experience.
- For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is LegallyRequired
- Prior experience working with DHS.
- Proven ability to develop and communicate effective concepts and strategies.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in engineering or science with 4 years experience working for a U.S. Government agency, national laboratory, or contractor responsible for technical execution in CBRNE, nuclear nonproliferation, nuclear security, nuclear material detection, or other technical disciplines related to the missions of DHS CWMD.
- Experience leading or participating in Research, Development and/or Test and Evaluation projects and teams.
- Experience coordinating and executing laboratory scale and/or fieldwork within DOE national laboratories or similar.
- Capability to mentor and foster technical contributors and grow into technical leaders/principal investigators.
- 3+ years experience with radiological material handling processes and procedures within DOE or similar.
