Job Description
The Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) is seeking a hot cell engineer (mechanical, materials science, chemical, nuclear, or electrical) to support examinations work on nuclear materials handled remotely inside a hot cell. The goal of the hot cell engineering group (HCE) is to innovate and constantly search for better ways to get the data needed to maintain the US Navy’s superiority.
Work may include designing or procuring equipment, developing processes both in lab and hot cell environments, training operators, writing and peer reviewing procedures, troubleshooting equipment problems, implementing process improvements, and other supporting work for unique and complex projects.
Hot Cell Engineering work is unique, often complex, and constantly changes and provides many opportunities for growth and development. A high level of personal ownership over assigned equipment and processes is expected, and work often has higher than average levels of importance to the mission and visibility. Significant research and development type lab work with material science and chemical use is performed in HCE.
Hot Cell Engineers will have the option to use permanent assigned seating at the Idaho Falls Energy Drive building when not needed on site at NRF.
Required Combination Of Knowledge And Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or SRE qualified.

Pay Range
$76,400.00 - $117,000.00 annually
