Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Radiological Control Technician to work in our Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) Radiological Controls Operations department. All work is performed on-site over multiple shifts at our ATR facility You will apply a diverse knowledge of radiological control principles, procedures, requirements and related instrumentation to support radiological control operations at ATR. You will report to the manager of the ATR Radiological Controls Operations department. Responsibilities Include: - Perform required radiological surveys for free release of material from Radiological Buffer Areas and Contamination Areas. Complete personnel surveys for contamination, surveys for contamination control, radiation control, airborne radioactivity control, and surveys to categorize waste for shipment. - Provide radiological work coverage, radiological work/practice oversight and mentoring, write radiological control work permits (RWP), enforce radiological control requirements, and ensure ALARA principles are followed during work. Respond to radiological emergencies in compliance with procedures and GDEs. - Document and review, when applicable, radiological surveys and radiological information in logs and on survey maps. - Review and provide input for facility procedures concerning radiological control and ALARA implementation. - Help writing radiological procedures and provide instruction and guidance to junior technicians. - Maintain proficiency and qualifications in radiation and contamination control through completion of work, self-study, and training activities. Display an in-depth knowledge of Health Physics theory, work practices, and instrumentation. - Implement Laboratory Required Documents, Laboratory Wide Procedures, work rules, and safe work practices. - Support and use the established Integrated Safety Management System principles to ensure work is conducted safely and meets the requirements for Environmental, Safety, and Health.
