Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities
We are seeking a Master Technologist with an advanced working knowledge of producing Bill of Material (BOM) and Material Take-off (MTO) lists from design drawing packages. This position requires direct coordination with the Engineer of Record, Engineering Acquisition, Supply Chain, Construction, and Project Engineers to review design drawings and packages in order to develop a comprehensive BOM for procurement of construction materials needed. The successful candidate is able to work on multiple projects, maintain a high level of detail, work well with technical experts and management, adapt to project demands, and is capable of completing workload with little oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop BOM and MTO for Issue for Construction (IFC) design packages for 2D designs.
- Develop BOM and MTO for IFC design packages for 3D designs using 3D software (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Solid Works, Creo).
- May lead teams of multiple disciplines and various skill levels.
- Coordinate project assignments with multiple engineering disciplines, facility managers, project managers, project engineers, and outside vendors.
- Coordinate with Construction, Supply Chain, and Engineering Acquisition team members to ensure items from BOM and MTO are procured and received in support of planned projects and schedules.
- Build team relationships with technical and other company organizations.
- Participate in site walkdowns, as required.
- Attend and actively participates in department/project meetings and discussions.
- Perform QA/QC data analysis to ensure requirements are met.
- Provide solutions for highly complex assignment-related problems.
- Plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment and experience in the application and substantial adaptation of process techniques. Devises new approaches to process problems.
- Perform work that involves conventional practices but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting requirements, unsuitability of conventional methods, or difficult coordination requirements.
- Interpret customer needs, provides solutions and input to reports and/or proposals.
- Mentor less experienced individuals in specific discipline.
- Perform other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in field related to the position plus at least 12 years’ progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 14 years’ progressive related experience.
- Experience with 3D design software, such as Revit.
- Experience reviewing IFC design packages and producing BOM and MTO quantities for all disciplines.
- Knowledge of acquisition process and interface with Supply Chain for ordering of construction materials.
- The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
- Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2 , “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709 , “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is:
$91,665.60 - $137,508.80.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
