Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities
The Remote Sensing Laboratory – Andrews is searching for a dynamic Sr. Business Assistant who will provide administrative staff support in various capacities. As required, this position will perform a diverse range of daily administrative activities in support of the National Search Program, the Aerial Measurement System, and Site Services to help meet operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform, direct, and coordinate various complex administrative, and operations support duties and responsibilities with broad scope in emergency response services support, security, procurement, human resources, and training.
- Interface with outside agencies, customers, managers and employees on operational and administrative matters. Assists with arranging tours and visits, including escorting uncleared visitors.
- Provide direct support to management and prepares reports, planning documents, and forecasts involving operational and administrative matters. Collaborates with other administrative personnel within the organization to ensure unit objectives are met.
- Develop and maintains tracking systems for employee administration, and oversees the information management for scheduled activities, missions and operational events. Performs special assignments as necessary.
- Prepare purchase requisitions and serves as a P-Card holder in addition to other procurement tasks as required.
- Serve as a time administrator ensuring that all time is entered and run required reports as needed.
- Set up virtual meetings via Microsoft Teams and WebEx.
- Perform other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent, and at least 6 years of related experience.
- Must possess planning/organizing skills and initiative; able to utilize independent judgement; and apply knowledge and experience to ensure that assignments are completed correctly and on time.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with internal and external contacts, representing the organization in a tactful, professional and effective manner.
- Able to understand complex data, terminology, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to use the following software applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to take notes during meetings.
- Able to use personal computer, printers, copiers, telephones, fax machines, calculators, and other general office equipment.
- Able to follow oral and written instructions and follow through on all assignments.
- Able to apply knowledge and experience in interpreting data and performing work where established procedures may not be specific, using some creativity and initiative.
- Able to deal with high-pressured situations, including handling multiple tasks, complaints, frequent interruptions, and time constraints.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and review the work of others in a positive, efficient manner, if required.
- The primary work location will be at the Remote Sensing Laboratory on Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
- The work schedule for this position is flexible based on the needs of the department and subject to the supervisor’s approval: 5/8s, 9/80s, 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2 , “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709 , “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Hourly salary range for this position is: $28.71- $43.07.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
