Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Under minimum supervision lays out, constructs, or installs, repairs and maintains heat, steam and
hot water distribution systems, related facilities and auxiliary equipment and piping and
equipment utilizing heat, steam and hot water distribution services.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Requires a High School diploma, GED, or higher.
• 6-yrs total experience composed of 4-yrs apprenticeship plus 2-yrs experience, or
• 6-8 yrs. total experience composed of formal trade school plus minimum 2-yrs experience, or
• 8-yrs experience (no formal training).
• Ability to thread pipe using 65R rigid hand threaders or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid NYS driver's license.
Other Requirements:
• Must meet the medical requirements of the “Job Assessment Form".
• Must have a telephone and must provide the number to BNL for callout and contact purposes.
• Must possess written and verbal skills.
• Must be capable of following written instruction procedures, work orders, and similar documents.
• Must possess the writing skills to sufficiently complete work orders and other required
documents.
• Must be able to communicate verbally with customers, fellow workers, and supervisors.
• Must have had a verifiable “acceptable leave record” in prior employment.
• Must be able to complete all the requirements of the Job Training Assessment.
Environmental, Health, and Safety Considerations:
• Standing, bending, and lifting, up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders and work at heights up to 50 feet.
• Use of a respirator and other related safety equipment.
• Work outdoors/cold environments.
• Work in warm environments.
• Some rigging and hoisting.
• Use of aerial lifts and trucks.
• Use of powered and air operated hand tools.
• Work with machinery including benchtop grinders and similar.
• Ability to act as a primary authorized employee for Complex Lock-out/Tag-out.
• Ability to wear proper PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.

The salary for this position is $39.69 per hour.
