Overview:
The Human Resources Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a highly motivated Human Resources Administrator (HRA) to join a dynamic team of highly skilled HR professionals to support important business needs.
Major Duties/Responsibilities: In this role you will perform a full range of human resource administrative functions in support of the assigned Human Resources (HR) team including but not limited to:
- Provide exceptional customer service and serve as main point of contact to candidates and hiring managers during the onboarding process. Work with appropriate subject matter experts to initiate, track, and resolve issues related to preemployment contingencies, visa requirements, relocation, and security clearances.
- Collaborate closely with HR team members and the administrative personnel within divisions to ensure that procedures are followed with respect to interview logistics, travel, offers and close out.
- Perform administrative activities supporting New Employee Orientation (NEO).
- Initiate termination process, change records, schedule exit interviews, and ensure exit paperwork is completed in SuccessFactors.
- Generate and distribute reports related to new hires, terminations, transfers, performance management, etc., as well as respond to ad-hoc requests for information.
- Perform file maintenance and data entry into SAP / SuccessFactors to ensure accurate information is tracked with regard to new hires and staff changes.
- Serve as an employee resource for answering questions pertaining to HR policies and procedures.
- Participate in process development and on process improvement teams. Perform other duties as requested.
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners in a professional manner and assist visitors as needed.
- Make administrative decisions and judgments within realm of responsibility and authority, using fact and discretion and act as authorized during supervisor’s absence to interpret and ensure requests for action/information are addressed.
- Communicate professionally, tactfully, and with the utmost diplomacy always, treating others with dignity and respect.

Qualifications Required:
- A high school diploma and a minimum of 5 years of relevant administrative support experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Working knowledge of administrative policies and procedures.
- Excellent computer skills with demonstrated working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite including Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Qualifications Desired:
- Experience with SuccessFactors.
- Experience with or the ability to learn the ORNL Administrative Systems including SAP, ORNL Buy, E-Prop, Travel, PALs, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experiences dealing with diverse personalities and background in a multi-level, scientific environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a consistent work schedule during core hours to meet the needs of staff.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
May be required to obtain a company credit card (P card) for approved purchases.
