What You'll Do
As an Arc Flash Coordinator in Y-12 Mission Engineering, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the Y-12 Arc Flash Assessment Request and Tracking System,
- Management and coordination of the Y-12 Arc Flash 5-Year Evaluation/Re-Certification Program
- Perform duties as a Subcontract Technical Representative for multiple Extended Life Program contracts for preparation of configuration managed power one-line drawings, ETAP models and Design Calculations,
- Maintaining the Arc Flash Engineering Standard,
- Coordinate Arc Flash Evaluation information with Electrical/I&C Design Engineering and Y-12 Infrastructure Power Operations
- Coordinate Arc Flash Label preparation and application with Y-12 Infrastructure

Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering/physical science discipline from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET.
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience (or two years with a Master’s degree) is required,
Working experience with and demonstrated knowledge of electrical codes.
In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year of nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2).
Preferred Job Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
Demonstrated management or leadership experience showing the ability to lead a multi-discipline team through completion of a complex task.
Extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers.
Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the following:
- NFPA 70, National Electrical Code
- NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
- IEEE 1584, Guide for Performing Arc-Flash Hazard Calculations
- IEEE C2, National Electrical Safety Code
- Experience with power system calculations (load flow analysis, short-circuit analysis, protection and coordination, arc-flash analysis, etc.) using ETAP software
- Experience with power system drawings (one-lines, schematics, power plans, etc.)
- Capable of analyzing large sets of data and creating metrics reports using Microsoft Excel or Access
- Requires the ability to conduct formal presentations to plant personnel and other interested parties
- Requires the ability to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word
- Demonstrated technical capabilities, leadership, and work ethic
- Ability to work in a project team environment and communicate well with other disciplines, customers, and stakeholders
